The BAILEY BRIDGE...A Moving Experience

In the October 2004 Connexion News, we featured an article on The Bailey Bridge. If you missed the October feature here is a synopsis.  The Bailey Bridge is being constructed across the canal tributary on the south side of Fair Glen Youth Camp (near the 1st green) beside the current 'Golfer's Bridge'.  The Bailey Bridge is designed to take heavy equipment (check out http://www.150th.com/rivers/bailey.htm for interesting facts on this bridge) so will allow the tractors to cross safely rather than going out on highway 48.  We are thankful to Doug Trussell for working with his sources to get the complete 'Bailey Bridge' donated.  Doug along with Wally Nolson and Howard Clark have spent copious hours putting it all together and starting the move over the water last fall.  Before the bridge can be positioned on the Fair Glen side gambian baskets had to be built to support the structure.  Below are some photos capturing the work done on the golf course side back in the late summer and fall and then the work done on March 8, 2005 as the 'experience' continued.  It was one
of the coldest days, but the crew of volunteers and staff did an incredible job of prepping for the final
Bailey Bridge move...stay tuned for an update as it continues across the canal!
