Shared Leadership Venture
Over the past several years one of the three Kingdom vision statements of Fair Havens Ministries has been 'to share its God-given resources with other like-minded ministries for more efficient and effective Kingdom impact'. One of the stated AGC values is to explore "strategic partnerships" with like-minded organizations. It is with this vision in mind that the Associated Gospel Churches (AGC) and Fair Havens Ministries (FHM) would like to announce that they have embraced a 'shared leadership' model with the Board of Directors for Muskoka Bible Centre (MBC). This approach will see John Friesen continue as Executive Director of Fair Havens Ministries, providing strategic oversight to its continuing program, operations and team development, while at the same time being engaged by MBC as their new Chief Executive Officer.
Both organizations believe that this model represents an exciting opportunity to leverage each other's strengths while promoting greater efficiency and ministry building at both locations. The experience and lessons that John has learned during his past nine years at Fair Havens will prove invaluable to MBC as it seeks to develop its vision for future ministry and align its operation to this cause.
Fair Havens is blessed with a strong management team that will be instrumental in implementing the strategic direction established for the next two years. Liz Thompson has been providing oversight to office and operations for the past four years and will now move into a Managing Director role and work together with Gord Hiscox (Facilities Director) and Benita Lothian (Backoffice Manager) to provide a strong onsite leadership team under the executive direction of John Friesen. Bill Fietje, President of the AGC, will continue to liaison with the staff on behalf of the AGC Board.
This leadership model presents an outstanding testimony of unity and sharing of resources across denominational and organizational platforms. Your prayers for this new venture are appreciated. May God receive the glory as He strengthens and equips these organizations to fulfill His Kingdom purposes.
