Dear Fair Glen Youth Camp Supporter,

As some of you may have heard or read in the November Issue of the Connexion News, there are changes coming to the ministry of what has been known as our Fair Glen Youth Camp children's residential camp program. Under the umbrella of Fair Havens Ministries, it has consisted of a mix of ministry programs for more than 60 years. Originally established as a children's residential camp program staffed by the churches, it has grown to include Outdoor Christian Education, Youth Retreat Ministry, Church Camp partnerships, Day Camp and also serving for our youth discipleship program - . God has used this campus and its resources in many ways to impact thousands of children and youth over the years.

During the past year, much prayer and counsel with other leaders and our own guests has gone into the planning process to identify the focus of Fair Havens Ministries and its direction into the future. We sough answers to the questions of 'what is God giving us to do?' and 'what are we uniquely positioned for in the Kingdom work of God here on earth?'. A key priority for us will be to continue developing our ministry to families; providing experiences and resources that will strengthen families in Ontario for the glory of God! Now more than ever, families need a place to come away together; a place of truth, love, safety, joy and peace in a world where these things are so often hard to find. God has indeed blessed our family camp ministry over the years and our facilities are being stretched to the maximum.

While we are still working out the details of a 3 year strategy in pursuit of the vision, some significant changes will begin taking place in 2007. The following list highlights some of the key changes impacting Fair Glen Youth Camp:

  1. Fair Glen Youth Camp - children's residential camp program: will not operate as it has in the past. Our focus will be on family ministry; with high impact children's youth and adult programming as well as Day Camp. In short, we will no longer be offering a residential camp program for children to register for individually but will be running a full Day Camp program.

  2. Fair Glen Youth Camp - youth campus for family camp: Fair Glen will become the campus for all family camp youth related programming. Be prepared for some exciting NEW programming and experiences for these age groups! A totally re-designed high impact program will introduce new SKILLS, WORSHIP and BIBLE TEACHING experiences.

  3. Fair Glen Youth Camp - a new model of youth camp ministry for greater Kingdom impact!  We are currently inviting churches to consider partnering with Fair Havens in providing a camp experience for youth using our new 'sending churches' model of camp ministry.  Download a description of this new approach and contact us if you would like to discuss this opportunity further.

In summary, the future of Fair Glen Youth Camp remains strong as a campus for youth ministry!

We still firmly believe in the value of children's residential camp ministry and would encourage those children who cannot come to camp through their church to consider attending one of the recommended children's camps in Ontario listed on the CCI/CANADA (Christian Camping International) website: www.cci-canada.org.

Your understanding of these changes is appreciated. I'd like to ask that you consider praying for Fair Havens Ministries as we continue to be obedient to God's leading in providing life changing experiences to His glory. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 800.430.5059.
