Bob Morris |
Week 5 July 26 - August 2, 2008 |
Bob
is currently a facilitator for MissionPrep and a Mission Consultant.
Bob Morris has been involved in mission since the day he was born to
missionary parents working with SIM in Nigeria. Since 1968 he has been
associated with Interserve (Canada) and has spent 18 of those years
living in India, Pakistan, and Cyprus. A major part of his role has been
the development of strategies for placing Christian professionals in
countries where missionaries are not welcome. As well, his
responsibilities included member care and assessment, which took him to
many countries in Asia and the Middle East.
More recently Bob
was associated with the Tyndale Intercultural Ministries (TIM) Centre,
which facilitates discussion and activities related to mission in
churches, agencies and educational institutions.
Teaching
Perspectives and MissionPrep courses and preaching on mission in a
variety of churches continues to be a favourite retirement activity.
Currently he is a trustee of the Maranatha Foundation, Chair of his
church’s Missions Committee and a member of the Transitional
International Council of Interserve.
Bob married Carol Small in
1996 after his first wife Petie died of cancer, and he is the father of
Christopher and Jonathan, both currently living in BC. Carol has a son,
Steve, and a daughter, Shelly, both in Toronto. Bob is a graduate of the
University of Western Ontario, Tyndale College & Seminary and is trained
as a secondary school teacher in History and English.
Carol and
Bob are members of Calvary Church (Associated Gospel Churches) in
Toronto.
