Note: If you have small children (ages 18 months to completed grade 5) be sure to take them to their program location 15 minutes prior to the service beginning.

Summer Camp 2024 Teachers, Worship Leaders & Garden Party Speakers

Dr. Garth Leno

Week 1: June 29 – July 6

Dr. Garth Leno is the team leader for Pastor Care in the Canadian National Baptist Convention. He is also the Pastor/Planter Care Specialist for the Baptist State Convention of Michigan. A pastor for 40 years, Garth brings a high dedication to the text of Scripture combined with a warm devotion to Christ. His strong and consistent application of Biblical truth to daily life make him a popular speaker. He holds the Doctor of Ministry degree from Bethel Theological Seminary, the Master of Theology and the Master of Divinity degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, the Master of Church Planting and the Master of Church Revitalization from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Garth is married to Patty and together they enjoy three amazing children and five energetic grandchildren.

Ed Fontaine

Week 2: July 6-13

Ed Fontaine is the lead pastor at Springvale Church in Stouffville ON. Ed has his BA, Masters of Theology (ThM) and a Doctorate (DMin). He served as an Associate Pastor for five years in Huntsville before he was Lead Pastor for 16 years in Strathroy, ON. Ed is now in his 11th year at Springvale. Ed is a visionary leader who gets excited about seeing growth and development in his staff. He is very hands-on and comes alongside in his approach to leading his team. Ed’s preaching style is current and relevant and frequently peppered with challenges to his congregation to keep pressing toward a higher goal and never to settle for just his word on the matter but to dig deeper and find out for themselves. Ed and his wife Crystal have been blessed to raise 3 great young men, Dallas, Denver and Brett and have two wonderful daughters in law, Rachael and Kendal. They are so pleased to get to spend as much time as possible with their 4 out of province grandchildren.

Paul Sadler

Week 3: July 13-20

Paul Sadler was an engineering student at Queen’s University when he first came to know Christ through his wife, Jennifer, and the ministry of P2C. He went on to complete a Master of Theology (MTS) and a Master of Divinity (MDiv) at Heritage Seminary. In between those degrees, he spent 15 years planting a church among the researchers of Tsukuba “Science City” in Japan and now serves as the lead pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Richmond Hill. He’s the author of The Unstuck Life and a weekly blogger at Out of Neutral. He has a daughter and two sons and enjoys soccer, sushi, and ballroom dancing with his wife.

Ian Elliott

Week 4: July 20-27

Ian Elliott grew up in a pastor’s home, began his career in the business world and entered vocational ministry as a youth pastor. He has pastored at Cedar Creek Community Church since its beginning in the fall of 1994. Ian has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Heritage College and Seminary throughout that time. Ian and Denise have three adult children and 7 active growing grandchildren. When not involved in ministry and with family, Ian and Denise love to travel.

Terry Sanderson

Week 5: July 27 – August 3

Terry Sanderson was raised on a dairy farm in Southwestern Ontario. After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, he received a Masters of Theology Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary with a major in Pastoral Ministry. He served 20 years in pastoral ministry at North Park Community Church in London. In 2009 he moved to the suburbs of St. Louis, MO to serve as the Lead Pastor of Calvary Church. In 2022, he returned to Canada as Lead Pastor at Bayview Glen Alliance Church in Thornhill. Terry is married to Chantelle and they have three daughters – Jenna, Jadyn and Jovanna.

Dr. Rick Baker

Week 6: August 3-10

Dr. Rick Baker was appointed as Leadership Development Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Oshawa, September 2023 having served Calvary as Lead Pastor since 2001. Before that he pastored 9 years as Lead Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Chatham, ON. He is a graduate of Western University (BSc), London Baptist Seminary (MDiv), and Liberty University (DMin). Rick has been married to Lyn since 1980 and they have 3 children serving in fulltime vocational ministry as well as 6 grandchildren. Rick spends his spare time on his boat fishing, leading Holy Land Tours, exploring and photographing God’s animal kingdom, or foraging for the next best hamburger. A lifetime Bruin and Steelers fan round out his hobby interests.

Pastor Dave Elliott

Week 7: August 10-17

Pastor Dave Elliott sensed God’s call into pastoral ministry while serving as a summer intern at his home church in 1983. For more than four decades Dave, along with his wife Lisa, have had the privilege of teaching God’s Word and caring for God’s flock. Pastor Dave recently announced his upcoming retirement from lead pastor responsibilities in order to focus more time and attention on an area of ministry that he and his wife are passionate about; serving as wounded healers in caring for grieving parents. As “seasoned sojourners” they bring a wealth of experience and biblical knowledge to strengthen believers on their journey of faith. David and Lisa are thankful to God for their four children (three on earth and one in heaven) and five grandchildren.

John Garner

Week 8: August 17-24

John Garner served in fulltime pastoral ministry for 40 years. He now serves as part time Associate Regional Director for the AGC of Canada. His primary role is to encourage and help develop pastors and ministry leaders. John has been married to Peggi for 45 years, they have 2 married sons and 3 grandchildren. Lots of energy in the room when visiting! Peg is an R.N., seeing nursing as an opportunity to serve people medically and spiritually as opportunities arise. Together, John and Peggi have conducted Marriage retreats and Marriage and Ministry retreats and conferences. At the heart of John’s ministry passion is a desire to see Christ followers and churches radiate the grace and truth of Jesus to fellow believers and spiritual seekers.

Kyle Best

Week 9: August 24 – 31

Kyle is from Guelph, ON where he lives with his wife, Alexis. Kyle graduated from Tyndale University where he received a degree in Biblical Studies and Theology. Kyle currently works at Tyndale as an Admissions Counsellor. Kyle recently concluded his role as a Pastor in Kitchener, ON and he is continuing to serve churches, camps, and conferences across Canada through teaching and encouraging believers to live life, all of life, wholly devoted to God.
