Sunder Krishnan, formerly Rexdale Alliance Church
Vijay Krishnan, Upper Room Community Church

Week 5: July 27 - August 3
Father/Son Team

Sunder Krishnan is a respected Bible scholar, teacher, author and much sought after international conference speaker. Sunder was born in India. He grew up in the capital city of New Delhi, India where he graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology and received his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After a career as a nuclear engineer with Atomic Energy of Canada, Sunder joined the pastoral staff of Rexdale Alliance Church in 1980, until his retirement in 2016. Sunder is deeply committed to supporting and equipping those who work with the poor around the world. He and his wife Shyamala, have been married since 1971 and have two grown children, Vijay and Sheila, and six grandchildren.

Vijay Krishnan is the Lead Pastor of Upper Room Community Church in the Greater Toronto Area. After studying business at Queen’s University, Vijay worked in the Toronto business community for 10 years doing CPG and Retail marketing. During that time he encountered many people who found the church to be an obstruction - rather than a pathway - to finding God. His conviction was that many people had walked away from a Jesus they had never even met. This set him on a path to be part of, and eventually pastor, a community of faith who were fixed on introducing the unchurched, de-churched and post-everything people of the GTA to Jesus. Upper Room is committed to being used by God to authentically represent Jesus Christ through a Deep Faith, and a Wide Embrace. Vijay, his wife Jenn and their three boys are thrilled to be in ministry in the local church.

Steve and his wife Heather have two beautiful daughters, Charlotte and Brooklyn and one unreasonably cute dog.

Martin Goode, Grace Church, Niagara Falls

Week 9: August 24 - 31

Martin met his wife Rebecca at Prairie Bible College and married, knowing God’s calling on their lives for pastoral ministry.  Now 31 years in the AGC, Martin began part-time in Bridgewater NS, then 12 years as an associate at Peoples Church of Montreal, before moving with their four children to become Senior Pastor of Grace Gospel Church, Niagara Falls.  Martin has worked “shoulder-to-shoulder” with the Niagara Falls City Church Network, appreciating the role of Christ’s (diverse) Church in fulfilling the mandate of making disciples until Christ returns.  But the AGC has always had a special place in Martin’s heart—ever since the church plant in Bridgewater that his family was part of from the start, to being part of AGC leadership at various levels.  Along with preaching, leading and pastoral care, nothing brings more joy to his heart than seeing people “get it”—to understand God’s Word and grow to follow close to Jesus more faithfully, confidently, and fruitfully.
