Bill Thornton
Week 1: June 28 – July 5
Bill Thornton grew up in Oakville where he surrendered his life to Christ as a teenager. He planned to be a high school teacher but God had other plans. He has served full time in various pastoral roles and is currently the senior pastor at Flamborough Baptist Church, Waterdown, ON. He also volunteers as a chaplain with the Hamilton Police Services. Bill loves spending time with his wife Heather and his ever expanding family.

Louis Scheepers
Week 2: July 5-12
Louis Scheepers is a South African now living and serving the church in Canada. He obtained his Master of Divinity from the University of Pretoria and has served as Youth Pastor, Worship Pastor, Church Planter and Lead Pastor for the past 18 years. With a desire to reach people far from Jesus, he uses a practical and relevant approach in his ministry and preaching. Their family moved from Cape Town, South Africa, to Newmarket, Ontario, in October 2021 after accepting the call as Lead Pastor of Grace Church. Louis and Yolandi have been married for 15 years; they have two girls, Abigail (6) and Annabelle (4), and an Italian Greyhound who doesn’t like the cold.

Dwayne Cline
Week 3: July 12-19
Dwayne Cline served as the Lead Pastor for James North Baptist Church, in downtown Hamilton, for 28 years. He is the part-time interim Executive Director for The Gospel Coalition Canada as well as the board chair for City to City Canada. Dwayne and Aimee have been blessed with four children. He is currently assisting organizations think through matters of governance, strategic planning, team building and fundraising.

Aden Friedman
Week 4: July 19-26
Aden Friedman joined Jews for Jesus in 2014 and was commissioned as a missionary in 2017. Aden Friedman was born in Johannesburg, South Africa to an orthodox Jewish family, where they were very involved in the Chabad community. In 1998, Aden was accepted to study at a Yeshiva in Hadera, Israel. In 2010, Aden met Cara, a believer in Yeshua (Jesus) and through her family he realized that Yeshua was the Messiah of the Jewish people and the whole world. After giving his life to Yeshua, Aden felt called to share his faith with his Jewish people. In 2014, he and Cara were married, and Aden joined Jews for Jesus in South Africa later that year. In 2017, Aden authored My Yiddishe Mama, a Jewish heritage cookbook for both secular and orthodox Jewish families in Johannesburg. In 2021, Aden and Cara had their first child, Levi Ezra, born in Jerusalem. Aden continues to serve with Jews for Jesus in Toronto as the Canada branch leader.

Norm Millar
Week 5: July 26 – August 2
Norm Millar is the Senior Pastor at Redemption Bible Chapel, London, ON. Before going into ministry, Norm had an 18-year career in computer software design and project management. Norm obtained his M.Div. from The Master’s Seminary in Los Angeles in 1992. In 2000, he, along with 30 others, planted Redemption Church. Norm graduated in May 2017 with his D.Min. from Southern Seminary. Norm is married to Cindy and they have five children and 20 grandchildren.

Rob Cripps
Week 6: August 2-9
Rob Cripps has been at Capstone Community Bible Church since 2008 and is the Lead Pastor of Preaching and Vision. Prior to moving to the Capstone, Rob spent 8 years in youth ministry at King Bible Church. He has a B.R.E in Christian Studies from Briercrest College and Seminary, a Masters of Theology from McMaster Divinity College, and is a Doctoral Candidate at McMaster Divinity College. Since 2018, Rob has been teaching Pastoral Care and Counselling at Tyndale College and Seminary. He is a certified Christian Conciliator with Institute for Christian Conciliation Peace and mediates churches, families, and Christian organizations in conflict. Rob has been married to Becky since 2000 and has four children: Jackson, Lucy, Charlotte and Elijah.

Garth Leno
Week 7: August 9-16
Dr. Garth Leno is the team leader for Pastor Care in the Canadian National Baptist Convention. He is also the Pastor/Planter Care Specialist for the Baptist State Convention of Michigan. A pastor for 40 years, Garth brings a high dedication to the text of Scripture combined with a warm devotion to Christ. His strong and consistent application of Biblical truth to daily life make him a popular speaker. He holds the Doctor of Ministry degree from Bethel Theological Seminary, the Master of Theology and the Master of Divinity degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, the Master of Church Planting and the Master of Church Revitalization from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Garth is married to Patty and together they enjoy three amazing children and five energetic grandchildren.

Greg Alderton
Week 8: August 16-23
Greg Alderton has been in full time pastoral ministry since 1998 and has served as the Lead Pastor at Lifepointe Bible Church in Niagara on the Lake for 15 years. Prior to serving at Lifepointe, Greg served in various roles including associate pastor, worship, disciple making, small groups and community outreach. Greg graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Musical Arts (1997) and obtained a Master of Theological Studies from Heritage Seminary (2002). He has served on both the National Board and chaired the Regional Council of the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada. Currently Greg is the Board Chairman of AGORA Network Ministries which seeks to bring awareness to the church in the area of mental wellness. He is also the treasurer and a board member of Christar Canada. Greg has been married to his high school sweetheart for 27 years and they have two daughters, Mckenna and Kaitlyn.

Nate Wright
Week 9: August 23-30
Rev. Nathanael Wright (B.A, MDiv.) is the Canadian Director of the Ezra Institute. He is a Christian leader, theologian and cultural apologist, and has worked in Christian ministry and church leadership in Canada for over fifteen years.
While acquiring a Bachelors degree in English Literature and minoring in Cultural Studies at Western, Ontario, he came to faith in Christ through campus outreach ministry where God birthed in him a great passion for evangelism and apologetics. Nathanael went on to work as a youth pastor while pursuing his theological studies at Emmanuel Bible College and McMaster University. After several years in this role, he was apprenticed at West London Alliance Church in Ontario and then accepted his first senior pastorate at Crossroads Bible Church in Ingersoll, Ontario, in 2013 which has grown to about 1,000 people under his care. He continues to serve at Crossroads in senior leadership.
A keen student of the reformational tradition in cultural apologetics and an emerging voice in Canadian Christianity, Nathanael was deeply influenced by the work of the Ezra Institute and became increasingly engaged in promoting its work, thought and message before joining our international leadership team. He hosts the popular Rebel Podcast on the Fight Laugh Feast Network and has had numerous opportunities to speak in churches and conferences in Canada.
Nathanael and his wife Colleen live in London, Ontario. They have four children.
Joe Boot
Week 9: August 23-30
Rev. Dr. Joseph Boot (M.A., Ph.D.) is a Christian thinker & cultural apologist/philosopher, Founder and President of the Ezra Institute for Contemporary Christianity. He also served as founding pastor of Westminster Chapel, Toronto for 14 years. Now residing in Great Britain, Joseph has worked in the fields of Christian apologetics, worldview education and church leadership for over twenty-five years on both sides of the Atlantic.
Joe did his undergraduate studies in Theology (Birmingham Christian College, U.K), earned his Master’s degree in Mission Theology with a dissertation focused on Christian cultural philosophy and apologetics (University of Manchester U.K), and holds a PhD in Christian Intellectual Thought (Whitefield Theological Seminary, Florida, USA).
He is a Senior Fellow for the cultural and apologetics think-tank truthXchange in Southern California; is Senior Fellow of cultural philosophy for the California-based Center for Cultural Leadership; and is senior Fellow for Wilberforce Academy and public theology at Christian Concern in London, UK, as well as faculty for the Alliance Defending Freedom’s Blackstone Legal Academy in Washington DC.
Joe is married to Jenny and they have three children: Naomi, Hannah, and Isaac.
