Here are our teachers for Summer Camp 2022:

Brad Mellette

Week 1: July 2-9

Brad Mellette is Senior Pastor of Grace Church (AGC), Verdun in Montreal, QC, where he has served since 2005 when he first entered pastoral ministry. He is a graduate of Lancaster Bible College and Moody Theological Seminary. He currently resides in Brossard, QC along with his wife, Melissa, and four young children. Brad's heart is to see the saints mature in their walk with Christ, which he believes is the mandate of the collective Body of Christ. He has taken this message to several venues including conferences, camps and churches during his tenure as pastor.

Garth Leno

Week 2: July 9-16

Dr. Garth Leno was the Senior Pastor of The Gathering church in Windsor, Ontario until two weeks ago when he completed almost 9 years of ministry in that church. Garth and Patty started a Saturday night bible study in their home in the fall of 2013, and it grew steadily. The following year, along with some close friends, the Lenos planted The Gathering Church. It grew rapidly and soon became affiliated with the Send Network and the Canadian National Baptist Convention. Garth holds the Doctor of Ministry degree from Bethel Theological Seminary, the Master of Theology and the Master of Divinity degrees from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is now working part-time for the Canadian National Baptist Convention as the Team Leader for Pastor Care. Garth and Patty have three children, and two of them, along with their families, will be onsite this week to enjoy all that Fair Havens has to offer.


Steve West

Week 3: July 16-23

Dr. Steve West is the lead pastor at Crestwicke Baptist Church in Guelph, ON, as well as an adjunct professor at Heritage Seminary (Cambridge) and Toronto Baptist Seminary (Toronto). Steve has preached and lectured in Canada, the United States, Africa, and Asia. He has been in pastoral ministry for over 12 years. He has published many articles in print and online as well as authored or contributed to several books such as Head, Heart, Hands: Life-Transforming Apologetics (2015) and Resurrection, Scripture and Reformed Apologetics (2012). Steve and his wife Heather have two beautiful daughters, Charlotte and Brooklyn and one unreasonably cute dog. 

Peter Kenniphaas

Week 4: July 23 - 30

Peter Kenniphaas has been pastoring since 1989 and is currently serving as the Lead Pastor at Ferndale Bible Church in Peterborough. Peter is married to Barbara and they have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. Peter has had the privilege of pastoring 4 churches. Peter began his ministry journey in Toronto later travelling to Vancouver Island where he pastored there for 11 years. He returned back to Ontario in 2001 to pastor a church in Belleville later moving to Peterborough to begin his present pastoral ministry in 2008. Peter has a passion to encourage and build up people in the Gospel of Jesus and to see the church reach out to the community as empowered servants of Jesus. Peter's vision for the church is to become a community of Spirit-filled servants of Jesus who know, grow, and show God's love. 

John Garner

Week 5: July 30 - August 6

For 45 years John Garner has served in pastoral ministry, serving at Redeemer Bible Church in Niagara Falls as Lead Pastor since 2008. He studied at Central Baptist Seminary in Toronto and graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Education. John has been married to Peggi for 43 years. Peg is an R.N. who serves Christ in the work setting as well as more pastoral, missions and leadership settings. John has a passion to help see people become and grow as courageous and compassionate followers of Jesus Christ. He yearns to see the local church as a place that radiates the heartbeat of Jesus which is marked by an abundance of grace and truth.

Rick Reed

Week 6: August 6-13

Rick Reed joined Heritage College & Seminary on January 1, 2013 as President after serving for fourteen years as Senior Pastor at the Metropolitan Bible Church in Ottawa. At Heritage, Rick teaches in the areas of preaching and pastoral theology. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Biola University, Master of Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary and Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Dr. Reed is committed to using Scripture and his ministry experience to glorify God in the training and equipping of men and women for life and ministry. Rick is married to Linda who directs the Heritage Centre for Women in Ministry and holds Doctor of Education degree from Southern Seminary. The Reeds have three grown children.

Ian Elliott

Week 7: August 13-20

Ian Elliott grew up in a pastor’s home, began his career in the business world and entered vocational ministry as a youth pastor. He has pastored at Cedar Creek Community Church since its beginning in the fall of 1994. Ian has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Heritage College and Seminary throughout that time. Ian and Denise have three adult children and 7 active growing grandchildren. When not involved in ministry and with family, Ian and Denise love to travel.

David Elliott

Week 8: August 20-27

Rev. David Elliott sensed God's call to pastoral ministry while serving as a pastoral intern at his home church, Alta Vista Baptist Church, in the summer of 1983. Since that time David has had the privilege of pastoring four congregations. 35 years later, the Lord recently opened a unique opportunity for him to return to Ottawa and pastor his home church; the place where he was saved, baptized, discipled and called into pastoral ministry. He believes passionately in the local church and champions twin truths; living things grow and growing things change. David has been spoiled by the Lord with his incredible wife, Lisa, and four godly children (three on earth and one in heaven). He is also thankful for two beautiful grandsons.

Kyle Best

Week 9: August 27 - September 3

Kyle is from Guelph, ON and a graduate of Tyndale University where he received a B.A in Biblical Studies and Theology. He currently works in the Admissions Department at Tyndale University. Last summer, Kyle served both the Sr. Teen and XT age groups. Kyle’s greatest passion is to see people come to know the love of God through the gospel of Jesus Christ. As well, you can find Kyle online where he posts articles and videos for the purpose of spreading the message of God’s Word to all people and all places.
